The autonomous back office

From invoice to IRS — handled.

Quittance is an always-on AI back office for solo consultants, freelancers, and small agencies. Set the rules once. It drafts the invoices, chases them, reconciles Stripe against your bank, closes the month, and prepares your quarterly taxes — you review exceptions, the books stay defensible.

Capabilities · end-to-end

One agent, the full invoice-to-IRS pipeline.

Legacy bookkeeping tools retrofit AI onto a workflow you still drive yourself. Quittance owns the workflow. Five milestones, one ledger, nothing dropped.

  1. 01

    Milestone logged → invoice drafted

The moment a Notion / Linear / Toggl milestone flips to done, Quittance drafts a branded invoice and queues it on your review schedule.

Trigger · Milestone flips to donerule: invoice_on_milestone
  2. 02

    14-day polite-but-firm chase

Reminders escalate from courtesy to late-fee. Day 3, 7, 14. Each one is reviewed by you on a single line — no inbox archaeology.

Trigger · Invoice crosses thresholdrule: escalation_polite_firm
  3. 03

    Stripe ↔ bank reconciled

Stripe payouts and bank deposits are matched by amount and timestamp. Anything unmatched parks in your exception queue.

    Trigger · Payout eventrule: stripe_reconcile
  4. 04

Monthly P&L, every month, on time

The ledger closes on the first of the month. Categorised, signed, and sent as a one-page digest. No “I’ll do it this weekend.”

Trigger · First of the month, 06:00rule: monthly_close
  5. 05

    Quarterly tax, prepared not panicked

Form 1040-ES is drafted from YTD liability with a 90% safe-harbor check. You approve, Quittance files.

    Trigger · Q-end + 14 daysrule: 1040_es_quarterly

How it works

Set the rules once. Then stop.

You write the rules in plain English. Quittance runs them, records them, and surfaces only what it can’t decide on its own.

  1. Describe your business once.

Clients, rates, jurisdictions, edge cases. 20 minutes, no spreadsheet import wizard.

  2. Quittance runs the loop.

Milestones → invoices → reminders → reconciliation → monthly close → quarterly tax. The audit log fills up whether you look at it or not.

  3. You review the exceptions.

A weekly digest, plus same-day pings on anything that needs a human. Approve or override — every change is versioned and signed.

Compliance · surfaces

The rules change.
We read them so you don’t.

Sales-tax thresholds, 1099 issuance, state filing calendars, VAT/GST — surfaced before they become penalties, never after.

  • Rule versions kept, changes diffed in your digest
  • Penalties avoided: late filing, missed nexus, stale 1099s
  • Defensible at audit: rule + input + output + approver

FAQ

What consultants ask first.

Privacy

Your books, your data.

We never sell your data. Your ledger, audit packets, and tax drafts stay yours and are exportable at any time in standard formats. The autonomous actions Quittance takes are logged locally with the rule that triggered them — so a CPA can reconstruct every decision in a straight line.

Terms

You stay in the loop.

Quittance prepares — you approve. Approvals are time-stamped and cryptographically signed. The default posture is conservative: any rule can be promoted from “auto-handle” to “always ask me” with one toggle, and every state or federal threshold change is diffed in your weekly digest before it takes effect.

Get started

Set the rules once. Review exceptions by email.

We onboard a small cohort each month so the rules stay accurate per industry. Tell us what you do and what your books look like — we’ll get back to you in two business days with a tailored demo.

Friendly reminder

Quittance is not your CPA. The agent prepares filings, you approve them, your accountant signs — same separation of duties you have today, just without the late-March panic.
